Karachi Kings' Babar Azam: Modern-day great salvage a draw

Babar Azam frustrated Aussie scoring a personal record 196 off 425 balls (70.5 overs). Azam also etched his name in the book of record by scoring the highest runs by captain in the 4th innings. He outscored former Proteas captain Michael Atherton who scored 185  runs in 1995 to top the list.

Babar got into spartans mode to salvage a draw for his country all the way from the gate of defeat.
Ironically speaking, "Someday, you play to win, someday, you play to avoid defeat", well the latter assignment is the hardest to pull off but the Karachi King Azam took the conveyance with absolute calmness and attitude and stood strong in the sea of doubts and distress and like it was intended from the start  of Day 5 itself, he successfully navigated to sail his ship across to the shore of a draw,  collecting a point.

Babar Azam has set his standards so high that he was displaying a sign of dissatisfied and frustration to get out at 196, Babar could barely bring up himself to raise his bat as he walks off rather he was seen perversely punching the boundary board quite in dismay. 4 runs short from scoring a maiden double  century in test didn't stop the Aussie players from congratulating him and showing respect both on and off , retired and active cricketers who were all impressed enough to showered with good wishes. The International cricket fraternity also showered appreciation, some of them includes;
Harsha Bhogel, "Test cricket was where Babar Azam needed to take a step up and here it is. 480 to get and 170 overs to bat when he walked in. Hope of a miraculous win might have flickered but even a draw is a great result. What a player".

Michael Vaughan tweeted, "Without question I think @babarazam258 is the best all round Batter in the World right now .. Brilliant across all the formats".

Brett Lee, "What a special knock @babarazam258 👏🏻".

India eyeing victory on Day 3

India lead the test series 1:0 against Sri Lanka in a 3 test series.

OFFICIAL COMMENTARY

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of India vs Sri Lanka day-night match from M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The Indian bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah will look to seal the win for the hosts on Day 3 as Sri Lanka still need 419 runs to win with nine wickets in hand.

Bumrah claimed his maiden fifer in the first innings as India bundled out Sri Lanka for just 109 and all the eyes will be once again on the 28-year-old to dismantle visitors’ batting line-up.

Half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant combined with inspired bowling on Sunday’s day two helped India eye a big win in the pink ball Test against Sri Lanka.

The tourists were 28 for one at stumps while chasing a daunting 447 for victory in Bangalore. Kusal Mendis on 16 and skipper Dimuth Karunaratne on 10 were batting at close of play.

Shreyas Iyer: The Future captain of Indian Cricket Team.

Shreyas Iyer is having a good run between the wickets after a comeback from injury. From scoring back to back, three in a row half-centuries in t20 against the Sri Lanka while remaining not out in all the three innings to smoking the Sri Lankan bowlers in test too.

Iyer got into the test competition with the same intent and continues to soak Sri Lankan bowlers by scoring another fine half century of 92 runs in the first innings of the 2nd test when the other batters failed to make it count.

FUTURE PROSPECT OF SHREYAS IYER IN THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.

1. Perfect successor of Virat Kohli.

Shreyas Iyer could be the perfect number 3 batsman for India in all three formats with the set of skills he possessed. He's nowhere near Virat Kohli in terms of records at the moment but given his potential, he could well fit Kohli's shoes in the near future.

2. Captaincy experience.

Iyer experience with the captaincy is another extraordinary merit to establish himself as a force to be reckon with. The current Kolkata Knight Riders Captain and the former Delhi Capitals captain has a quite fair share of captaincy experience in IPL in fact taking his team to the playoffs.

3. Potential to switch gears.

Shreyas Iyer has the potential to switch gears and rotate strikes given the situation and that could well gravitate opportunities to his favour.

4. Clean hitter (Specialist spin batsman)

Shreyas Iyer is undoubtedly one of the best clean hitter of the ball. Presently, Iyer is also one of the best spin batsman in the world going all gun blazing for sixes against a spin bowler.
